Google Assistant Will Finally Be Able To Manage Google Calendar

As a member in the Cloud Next conference, Google today reported a small but welcome news about its own assistant. In the short term, this virtual assistant will also be able to manage your calendar activities, of course as long as you utilize the application from Google.

Normally, as Google points out, the virtual assistant most often helps you keep track of certain aspects of your personal life. However, you will now be able to connect Google Assistant to Calendar so as to demand data about your work day. This combination should work on all compatible devices that have Google Assistant, including in the car or through the Home Hub.

For the moment, this new component focuses in most cases on the possibility of requesting calendar events. As far as known so far, you will not be able to create an event on the calendar through the virtual assistant. However, Google notes that you can use the wizard to ask about a future event and then ask them to send an email to the other participants.

What we find most interesting about this news is that so far Google has not positioned the assistant as a tool to increase productivity in the workplace. Names like ” Google Home ” or “Home Hub” caused this to appear to be very clear. However, sometimes, work and family life overlap and at the center of this is the same technology that allows you to activate the light in the kitchen with a simple voice command, so it could also be used to extract data from a table.

It will be interesting to see if Google intends to expand in this direction in the future or if what they have announced now is a unique integration.
